When driving down the road at night, I watch the bikers and
runners moving along the road with lights flashing. I have felt envious of them
because they can run or bike at night and I can’t. My schedule allows me to run
at night but I don’t have the necessary equipment. I was looking through
products on Amazon and other websites and noticed a posting for LED Safety
Light / Flashlight (2 Pack) by Bright Outdoors. The posting went on to say that
these lights were ideal for running, dog walking, cycling, and night sports. I
was intrigued. So I decided to purchase them.
Once
I received the order from Amazon, I was super excited to try them out. The
package came with two safety lights, one black and one red, and two USB charging
cables, two running straps, and two silicone straps. The safety lights have
belt clips already attached to the back of the light. I wasn’t really expecting
all the accessories. When I was buying the product, I was more interested in
the actual lights. But seeing the accessories that were included made me very
happy.
While I was charging my safety lights with the USB charger
cables, I inspected the accessories. The two belt clips were simple to put
together. They are made out of silicone and they are made strong enough to last
for a long time. The running straps are just fabric with Velcro attached to
them. It has a loop on the end so you can attach it to whatever you are using
it for. The straps are about 17 inches long so you have enough length to
attach.
Once
my safety lights were done charging, it took about a half an hour, all you have
to do is press the on button and the light turns on. Press the button once and
you get a steady bright light. Press again and you get a strobe light. Press
yet again and a steady red light turns on and one more press makes a red strobe
light flash. To turn off the light, press down on the on button for a few
seconds and it turns off. Both lights do the same thing. The lights are very
bright and the button is not hard to press.
I decided to clip them to my tennis shoes and ran for a
couple of miles. They stayed on my shoes and lit up the whole sidewalk. While
running, the lights did flop around but not enough for me to get distracted. Halfway
through my run, I clipped them on my running belt and they stayed in place.
Overall,
these safety lights are great. They are very bright, small and compact, have
four different settings, the materials used will last a long time, and they can
attach to nearly anything. The downsides are few. Some people might not like
the small size. Others might not like the colors of the lights or the different
settings. But for me, these safety lights are just what I needed.
